The Periodic Table in 12 pieces
Anderson Hung 2021

Atomic Number
The periodic table is ordered by atomic number, not weight. An atomic number is the number of protons in an atom's nucleus. Out of the 118 elements, there are only 94 elements existed in nature and others are synthetics. All the elements with the atomic number of 84 or more are unstable and therefore radioactive spontaneously decaying into base metals in a series of steps over time.

Groups and Periods
The elements are arranged in 18 columns called groups and in 7 rows called periods.

Groups 1 and 2. (s orbital)
Groups 17 and 18. (p orbital)
Groups 13 and 16. (p orbital)
Periods 4 and 7. (d orbital)
Lanthanoids and actinoids. (f orbital)

The metaloids marked in red lie between the poor metals on the left and other non-metals on the right.

Periods 4-7

All the elements in periods 4-7 except elements 57-71 and 89-103 are transition metals.
